Think Green

Greener Waste Bin Rental

All of us at City Waste Services know that a greener future starts today. We’re constantly fine tuning our waste bin rental processes to make sure we’re working as green as possible.

Since we’re in the waste disposal business, it’s pretty obvious where our biggest contribution to eco-friendliness is: your waste. More specifically, the handling of it. To help reduce the impact on the environment as much as possible, every garbage bin we pick up is processed by a team of people who make sure that we salvage or sort as much waste as possible for recycling or reuse.

The number of materials and items that can be recycled or reused is constantly growing as waste management technology gets better and better.  Our staff is kept up to date with the latest recycling procedures in the greater Toronto area so that the amount of garbage that we don’t salvage is kept as small as possible.

Some examples of reusable / recyclable materials and how they can be reused are:

  • Metal, which can be salvaged and brought to local scrapyards or recycled
  • Cardboard, glass, plastics and other recyclables which are sorted to be recycled.
  • Brick and concrete. These materials can be ground to make new bricks and concrete.
  • Dirt and soil, which can be used as fill.
  • Asphalt, which can be recycled and made into new asphalt.

Working Green

We know what you’re thinking. How else can we possibly be green? We’re a waste bin rental company! We think that environmental responsibility goes beyond making sure we recycle or reuse as much of your waste as possible. We believe that everything we do in the workplace can have an impact on the environment.

Because of this, we approach our day to day operations with a green mindset. We think it’s important to reduce our own carbon footprint as much as possible. This includes constant adjustments to and monitoring of our delivery process and trucks to reduce our fuel consumption and minimize waste production. It also includes the sensible use of other energy sources such as electricity and water.

We know that each employee’s actions are critical in reducing our environmental footprint and in achieving our environmental goals. We encourage staff to think green and make a commitment to “working green.” Little things such as drinking from reusable water bottles to recycling Big Mac containers (hey, we’re always on the go!) can have an impact when considered over time. Our staff have embraced this philosophy and promote recycling and energy conservation both in the workplace and outside of it.

We encourage you to do the same. Think twice before buying items you may already have. Consume only what’s necessary. And at the risk of putting the waste bin rental industry out of business, reuse and recycle as much as possible.
