Dumpster Rental FAQ
We've been in the business of dumpster rentals in Toronto and the GTA for a long time. Over the years, many of our clients ask us similar questions, so we've compiled a list of common questions and answers here so you can get an answer quickly. Contact us directly if you have any questions about our bin rentals that aren't answered here.
What's the difference between a dumpster rental and junk removal?
A dumpster rental is the drop off, usage and pick up of a dumpster. In addition to all of this, junk removal also includes extra services from our staff. They will come and remove the junk you want to get rid of and fill the bin with it. Can’t get much easier than that! See our garbage bin rental page for a more detailed explanation of the rental process.
What sizes of garbage dumpsters do you have for rent?
All kinds! Our dumpsters range in size from 7 to 14 cubic yards for clean fill and mixed waste. We also have bins from 20 – 40 cubic yards available for mixed waste. What’s mixed waste you say? Well, read below for the answer to that, and click here for more bin rental sizes and prices.
What size of dumpster bin should I rent?
This really depends on what you are disposing of. Indoor home renovations usually require larger bins like a 14 yard bin because the waste mostly consists of drywall, wood and other bulky rubbish. Smaller dumpster rentals such as a 7 yard bin or 10 yard bin are probably enough for outdoor home renovations including landscaping and removal of soil, dirt and concrete.
To get a better gauge of the size of the bin you will need, use our online calculator. For an even better estimate give us a shout so we can make sure we have all your needs covered.
One thing we do like to mention when choosing a bin size is that our trash dumpsters cannot be overloaded for safety reasons (we don’t want flying toilets on the highway) and we’ll have to charge extra if your bin is overloaded.
Clean Fill? Mixed Waste? What?
Put simply, clean fill is just concrete, interlock, brick and block, dirt, soil, grass or asphalt. You may have noticed above that we mentioned the biggest bin we can offer for clean fill is the one that’s 14 cubic yards. This is simply because clean fill is too heavy to put into a larger bin.
It’s important to know that when filling a disposal bin with clean fill, that it can’t contain any other type of material or we’ll have to add a sorting fee to separate it.
Mixed waste is easier to explain. It’s any other types of rubbish except for cylinders, aerosol cans, tires or paint. These items are considered hazardous waste and can’t be put in our dumpsters. We also don’t accept household garbage (i.e. organic / biological waste) in our bins either. If found, a $100 sorting fee will be added to your bill.
If you’re renting a bin for a home renovation or construction project, you’re probably disposing of mixed waste. Drywall, wood and other construction debris fall into this category.
Where can I take my hazardous waste?
Remember how we said we don’t accept hazardous waste? (we know you read that right?) If you have any of this type of waste, contact your city’s waste disposal centre, or visit their website to find out if there is a drop off depot available.
Toronto’s hazardous waste and depot info can be found here. For more information about hazardous waste identification and disposal, see our article about household hazardous waste.
Can you leave the dumpster on my street?
This depends on your city or town. Contact your local municipal office for the exact by-laws and for any permits you need to leave your dumpster rental on the street. Information and permit application for the city of Toronto is available here.
Any fines / tickets incurred due to permit issues are the responsibility of the client.
Will the disposal bin damage my driveway?
No! We carefully lay 3′ x 6′ pieces of wood on your driveway before we place the disposal bin onto them. This ensures the bin is safely on the wood and never touches your driveway!
Do I need to be at my home or business when you drop off and pick up the waste bin?
Yes, we need you to be there when we’re delivering or picking up the waste bin.
How much advance notice do you need for dumpster rental?
It would be awesome to have two days’ notice during the week. We can also accommodate same day requests, depending on availability. Please call us for same day requests for the quickest turn around time.
Please give us a few days’ notice when booking a trash dumpster rental around weekends and holidays.
What areas do you deliver disposal bins to?
We drop off dumpsters in Toronto as well as the surrounding cities including Burlington, Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan, Pickering, and Oshawa as well as many of the towns in the GTA. See our disposal bin rental service areas for more details or give us a shout to confirm that we service your area.
Are you environmentally friendly?
Absolutely! We take special care in sorting the disposal bins we pick up from you to make sure we recycle or reuse as much as possible. You’d be surprised at the amount of rubbish and waste that can be reused or recycled. We make every effort to operate a green waste bin rental business and work green, because it’s our planet too.
Do you deliver waste bins in the wee hours of the morning or late at night?
Yes! Procedures are a little different than daytime delivery, but yes, we do deliver disposal bins early in the morning or late at night. Please contact us or indicate this when you book online for details.
What types of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and Amex. A pre-authorization will be taken for credit card payments before delivery of a disposal bin. Charges will be applied once the disposal bin is delivered or the job is complete.
